I entered the Human Library with very few expectations. The premise of the night, as I understood it, was to provide student clinicians a safe space to interact with those who fall under social prejudices or stereotypes. Books were swapped out for community members who volunteered their life stories to be “read” by those in attendance.

For the preparation, we are printing some library cards. Our creative team has shared a couple of colour schemes with us. And the internal jury is still out!

We do not agree on everything and this is completely fine, but by knowing what the person in front of you actually thinks, it becomes easier to respect them and avoid any type of hateful behaviour.

A Libary where you get to be a reader and your favorite folks can be the book! You borrow them for 25 minutes, and then return after a conversation!
